A Geotab Case Study
United Utilities, a large water utility operator with a fleet of more than 2,300 vehicles, needed to improve reliability, safety, and sustainability while keeping vehicles available 24/7. The company also wanted to support its shift to lower-carbon operations by 2028, but it needed better visibility into vehicle health, driver behavior, and EV transition planning. Geotab’s Vodafone Business Fleet Analytics solution helped address these challenges.
Geotab implemented GO9 devices, real-time diagnostics, predictive maintenance, driver safety scorecards, and EV suitability analysis to help United Utilities act earlier on faults, coach drivers, and plan electrification. The results included a 25% improvement in driver safety scores, a 14% reduction in idling, a 35% increase in fuel economy, and a 26% drop in emissions per vehicle. Preventive maintenance also delivered £10,813 in savings, while avoiding unplanned downtime helped reduce costly service disruptions and improve vehicle availability.
