A Geotab Case Study
Petrey Novelty Inc., a Montgomery, AL–based wholesale DSD merchandiser serving Circle K stores across 33 states with a 49-vehicle fleet of box trucks and vans, faced a major compliance and operational challenge when the FMCSA ELD Rule required electronic hours-of-service tracking. Drivers routinely took vehicles home and used them personally, leaving managers blind to business vs. personal miles, route efficiency, maintenance needs and potential fuel and labor waste.
Petrey implemented Geotab Cloud ELD (Hours of Service) and vehicle tracking via their long-time software reseller, gaining DVIRs, real-time location, mileage, business vs. personal use data, alerts for violations, harsh driving, and automated emailed reports. The solution delivered FMCSA compliance, tighter maintenance windows, improved visibility into driver activity and profitability (including per-driver, per-day cost analyses), and ongoing gains through API/SDK integrations.
