Case Study: Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) achieves statewide fleet visibility, safety and productivity with Geotab

A Geotab Case Study

Preview of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Case Study

Missouri DOT manages the safety, productivity and utilization of their diverse fleet with telematics

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), which manages a diverse fleet across 114 counties, faced fragmented telematics after three districts independently implemented different systems. This created data silos that limited statewide visibility into vehicle diagnostics, utilization, safety and winter operations, and made it difficult to share insights or integrate telematics with MoDOT’s in-house Maintenance Management System (MMS).

MoDOT consolidated onto a single Geotab platform, integrated devices with their MMS via API, and piloted the Public Works winter-operations tools. The solution delivered real-time engine diagnostics and alerts, safety dashboards, route and asset monitoring, and automated mileage/engine-hour reporting. Early results include reduced downtime and repair costs, better routing and safer operations during snow events, department-wide reporting for the initial three districts, and a roadmap to expand the system and measure enterprise-wide ROI.
