Enterprise uncovers the potential of fleet electrification

Enterprise Fleet Management, a North American fleet provider managing 649,000+ vehicles, faced the challenge of planning a large-scale transition to electric vehicles (EVs) while continuing to deliver tailored, local support to customers. To move beyond assumptions, the team needed reliable, real‑world data to understand how electrification—especially the impending arrival of electric pickups—would affect vehicle suitability, costs, and long‑term strategy.

Working with Geotab, they ran an EV Suitability Assessment on 91,252 leased vehicles using telematics and analytics tools to produce actionable insights. The study found ~13% (≈12,000) of vehicles could be electrified today—potentially saving $33 million and 194,000 tons of CO2 over four years—and up to 45% (≈42,000) once electric pickups arrive, equating to about $167 million in savings and vastly larger emissions reductions. Those findings now guide Enterprise’s strategic planning and enable local teams to make informed, data-driven recommendations to customers.
