D.M. Bowman Inc., a Williamsport, Md.–based transportation, warehousing and logistics company with a 325-truck heavy-duty fleet, needed better, timely insight into driver behavior—seatbelt use, speed versus posted limits and more frequent alerts—to reduce risk and satisfy insurance program requirements.

Through Protective Insurance’s MileMarker program the company installed Geotab telematics on 300 of 325 trucks (with full deployment planned), giving real-time monitoring, automated alerts, mapping and easy reports. Immediate driver coaching, incident verification and expanded use for routing and engine-fault alerts, together with other safety initiatives, have produced a 20% reduction in accident costs.
