DB Regio Bus uses telematics to promote innovation for the future of its public transport services

DB Regio Bus, a major public transport operator in Germany, needed a telematics solution that could meet the demands of its large mixed fleet while also supporting ambitious sustainability goals. Using Geotab GO9 devices and MyGeotab fleet management software, the company sought better data quality, faster insights, and stronger support for maintenance, safety, and electric vehicle management.

Geotab implemented a fact-based fleet management system across nearly all of DB Regio Bus’s owned buses, giving teams real-time vehicle diagnostics, collision analysis, and EV monitoring. The results included noticeably lower fuel costs, about 40% less unnecessary idling in one year, and an estimated reduction of around 1,400 tonnes of CO2, while also improving driver behavior, passenger comfort, and fleet availability.
