City of Port Colborne enhances fleet safety and efficiency with Geotab

The City of Port Colborne, a municipality in Ontario managing more than 300 pieces of equipment across public services, needed a faster, more efficient way to access fleet data for insurance claims, collision investigations, and day-to-day operations. Its previous system was slow and made it difficult to monitor vehicle usage, enforce policies, and track materials like salt during snow events. Geotab, along with MyGeotab and onboard cameras through Dican Inc., provided the city with a more responsive fleet management solution.

With Geotab, the City of Port Colborne gained real-time access to fleet data and camera footage, enabling supervisors to review incidents within minutes and resolve insurance claims in hours instead of days or weeks. The solution also improved fleet safety through driver scorecards and alerts, while helping optimize salt usage during winter operations. Geotab is now also supporting the city’s electrification planning by helping identify vehicles suitable for replacement with electric models and advancing sustainability goals.
