City of Fishers, Indiana Strengthening services with connected fleets and real-time data insights

The City of Fishers, Indiana, a fast-growing suburb of Indianapolis with a 400+ vehicle municipal fleet (pickup trucks, snow plows, salt spreaders, fire rescue vehicles and heavy equipment), needed better visibility to strengthen services and sustainability. Its original telematics were intrusive and provided limited, hard-to-interpret data, making maintenance, planning and incident response reliant on guesswork.

Fishers switched to Geotab, first fitting about 95 snow-operations units and later expanding to nearly 400 more, using the ProPlus portal for near-real-time location, maintenance monitoring, driver behavior reporting and route completion tracking. The telematics have enabled evidence-based budgeting and planning, reduced fuel and idling waste, improved responsiveness to complaints and incidents (including clear police vehicle records), and simplified overall fleet management.
