Case Study: California Freight achieves 59% idling cost reduction and streamlined, safer fleet operations with Geotab

A Geotab Case Study

Preview of the California Freight Case Study

California Freight Using telematics to cut idling costs by 59%

California Freight is a California-based liquid-bulk, food-grade transport and logistics provider offering brokerage, rail/port drayage, tankers and warehousing. Faced with multiple disparate systems and rising costs, safety and compliance pressures (including increasing smog checks), the company needed a flexible telematics platform to consolidate data, improve visibility and drive operational improvements.

They deployed Geotab across their fleet (GO9 devices, asset trackers, key fob readers, MyGeotab and APIs), integrating internal systems and rolling out ELDs, driver tools and accident-reconstruction reporting. The results: 100% fleet adoption with daily dispatcher use, idling costs down from $100k to $41k per month (59% reduction) with lower emissions, fewer violations, better asset utilization and ongoing pilots for in‑transit smog testing and EV suitability assessments.
