BC Sands 45% decrease in occurrences of unsafe driving behaviour

BC Sands, a Sydney-based aggregates and building materials supplier with a 27-vehicle fleet, needed better visibility into driver behaviour and fleet safety across a mix of vehicle types. The company had struggled with older telematics devices being unplugged and wanted a solution that could work across manufacturers while helping monitor safety and maintenance data. Geotab’s telematics and fleet management solutions were chosen to address this challenge.

Geotab implemented devices and safety tools that track harsh braking, hard acceleration, cornering, speeding, seatbelt use, smoking in the cab, and vehicle maintenance indicators like water and oil pressure, as well as fuel consumption. As a result, BC Sands improved its Driver Safety Scorecard from 86.6 to 89.7 and reduced fleet occurrences of unsafe driving behaviours by 45%. Geotab also helped BC Sands improve accountability, support driver coaching, and lower maintenance-related costs through safer driving.
