Petrobras reduces CCU costs with Geoforce and nearly 1,000 tracked containers

Petrobras, the largest company by market capitalization in the Southern Hemisphere, faced a challenge in optimizing the utilization of its containerized cargo units (CCUs). They needed to reduce costs and gain better visibility into their supply chain operations. To address this, they partnered with vendor Geoforce for a GPS tracking solution.

Geoforce equipped Petrobras's fleet of nearly 1,000 bulk chemical containers with GT1 GPS tracking devices and integrated the data into Petrobras's internal system. This solution provided continuous monitoring and automatic position data. As a result, Petrobras achieved greater operational efficiency, which allowed them to utilize fewer units. This led to a significant decrease in the costs of procuring and renting CCUs for their customers, directly supporting growth from new offshore platforms.
