Linn County, Oregon improves emergency response with GeoComm after 28 years of tabular CAD

Linn County, Oregon faced a challenge after upgrading its Computer Aided Dispatch system to a map-centric platform. The new system's reliance on GIS data revealed quality issues that were causing problems for emergency response, as the previous accommodations from their old tabular system were no longer effective. The county partnered with vendor GeoComm to assess and improve its GIS data.

GeoComm conducted an initial GIS data review to identify and implement the most critical updates. This began an ongoing collaboration where the vendor and the county's GIS department proactively fix potential data issues. The solution ensures accurate, up-to-date data is provisioned to the CAD system regularly, which has greatly improved the county's ability to process calls for help in a more timely manner during emergencies.
