Wurth Electronics Midcom expands headquarters by three stories with Gensler

Wurth Electronics Midcom, a global market leader in electronic components manufacturing, faced the challenge of consolidating its expanded U.S. operations into a single, sustainable headquarters that would support its people and foster connections between departments. To achieve this, they partnered with the design firm Gensler to create a new employee-forward facility in Watertown, South Dakota.

Gensler, in collaboration with CO-OP Architecture, designed a solution that adapted the existing site with a significant three-story expansion. The new headquarters features an elevated outdoor park for employee wellness and is currently pursuing LEED v4 Silver certification, making a bold statement in sustainability-centered design. The solution provided room for innovation and growth, successfully affirming the company's legacy while celebrating its local community.
