A Gensler Case Study

Preview of the Valley Bank Case Study

Valley Bank opens a 145,000-square-foot headquarters with Gensler

Valley Bank, a community-focused financial institution, faced the challenge of attracting high-quality talent by moving from a suburban campus to a more experiential and transit-accessible location in downtown Morristown. Their goal was to create a new headquarters that provided walkable amenities, a choice of work settings, and a tangible showcase of their commitment to local impact. They engaged the architecture and design firm Gensler to address this challenge.

Gensler designed a six-floor mixed-use building featuring communicating stairs for transparency and a glass facade for biophilic quality. The solution included a ground-floor nonprofit café, Ethan & the Bean, which employs adults with disabilities and activates pedestrian life. The new Gensler-designed headquarters embedded Valley Bank within the community, fostered serendipitous exchanges between employees and the public, and achieved LEED Gold and Silver certifications for sustainability.
