A Gensler Case Study

Preview of the Under Armour Case Study

Under Armour builds a net-zero headquarters with Gensler

Under Armour sought to create a new global headquarters in Baltimore that was more than a workspace; it needed to be a bold statement of the brand's identity and values, reflecting its commitment to innovation, its teammates, and the local community. The challenge was to design a facility that would serve as a beacon of inspiration and set a new standard for environmental responsibility. Gensler was engaged to provide architecture and design services for this build-to-suit headquarters project.

Gensler designed a groundbreaking net-zero carbon and net-zero energy headquarters for Under Armour, constructed primarily from mass timber. The solution included geothermal heating, a photovoltaic array, and biophilic interiors, resulting in LEED Platinum certification and one of the lowest energy use intensity (EUI) ratings in the country. The impactful design created a destination for collaboration and community, featuring a facade that celebrates local sports teams and solidifying Under Armour's legacy as an innovative, high-performance brand.
