A Gensler Case Study
The customer, O’Leary Ventures, faced the challenge of meeting unprecedented demand for hyperscale AI data centers while under pressure to reduce carbon emissions and integrate such large, resource-intensive infrastructure responsibly into its environmental and community context. They partnered with the vendor Gensler for architecture and master planning services to design a new sustainable campus.
Gensler's solution was the Wonder Valley Data Centre Park, an nearly 8,000-acre campus that will become the world's largest AI data-centre campus with over 50 facilities and a 7.5-gigawatt capacity. The design utilizes on-site natural gas power generation with carbon capture to dramatically reduce operational emissions and repurposes harvested timber for construction to lower embodied carbon. The project establishes a new model for sustainable hyperscale computing infrastructure and will power a new innovation district in Alberta.
