A Gensler Case Study
The OC Health Care Agency, a public health agency for the County of Orange, sought to replace its aging facilities with a unified, future-ready campus. Their challenge was to create a facility capable of supporting 24/7 emergency operations and a public health lab while focusing on operational efficiency, long-term adaptability, and sustainability. They engaged the vendor Gensler to deliver this solution through a design-build delivery method.
Gensler designed and constructed a 70,000-square-foot campus that consolidated operations into a single, efficient structure. The solution included a public health lab, emergency operations center, and flexible spaces for future expansion. The project was completed on time and on budget within 24 months. The measurable impacts include a 46% reduction in total water use and the creation of a resilient, all-electric facility that strengthens the region's emergency readiness and improves collaboration among staff.
