MATTER refines its 2.0 workplace with Gensler across a 2016 partnership

MATTER, a healthcare startup ecosystem and innovation hub, faced the challenge of evolving its workplace to better support its community and reflect its innovative brand identity within Chicago's The Mart. They partnered with the architecture and design firm Gensler to create a refined "2.0" expression of their space.

Gensler designed a highly visible and adaptable workplace for MATTER. The solution included a dynamic entrance, a central hub called the "Matterverse" with a rotating wall for reconfigurable event space, and a café to foster daily interaction. The design used warm woods and bold colors to reinforce the brand, while repurposed furnishings contributed to sustainability. This new space by Gensler successfully supports connection, experimentation, and exchange, solidifying MATTER's role as a convener for healthcare innovation.
