Maruwa R&D Center wins 2 awards with Gensler

Maruwa, a manufacturer of ceramics for electronic components, worked with Gensler to design its new factory and R&D Center in Aichi, Japan. The challenge was to create a facility that would symbolize the company's evolution and its commitment to unearthing new value through innovation.

Gensler implemented an architectural and interior design solution inspired by the concept of an "innovation mine." This theme is expressed through a facade resembling a geological formation and a spacious, multi-purpose hall designed to host events and workshops to cultivate innovation. The project was successful, with Gensler's design for the Maruwa R&D Center receiving recognition by winning a 2022 IES Illumination Award of Merit and a 2021 LIT Design Award.
