Preview of the Los Angeles Sparks Case Study

Los Angeles Sparks open $150 million training facility with Gensler

The Los Angeles Sparks, a WNBA team, sought to create a state-of-the-art training facility to attract and retain elite female athletes during a period of league growth. Their challenge was to raise the bar for athletic performance and holistic wellness in a facility that reflected the culture of Los Angeles. They partnered with the design firm Gensler to achieve this vision.

Gensler designed a 55,000-square-foot, player-first facility that integrates the city's natural beauty with athlete-centered innovation. The solution includes two full courts, the WNBA's first indoor-outdoor player sanctuary, an outdoor spa pool, and dedicated nap rooms. This $150 million project, the largest single-team investment in women's sports history, sets a new benchmark for athlete-centered design. Gensler's work provides the Sparks' players with an environment that fuels performance and recovery while solidifying the team's identity as a pillar of the L.A. sports landscape.
