Ironworkers Local 63 Training Center trains 80 ironworkers annually with Gensler

The Ironworkers Local 63 Training Center faced the challenge of attracting a new generation to the skilled trades amidst a changing workforce. They needed a facility that would showcase the technical mastery, innovation, and long-term viability of the ironworking profession. The organization partnered with architecture firm Gensler to design a new training center that would redefine how trades are taught and experienced.

Gensler designed a 13,650-square-foot facility with a striking curved glass façade that makes the craft visible to passersby. The solution included flexible interiors and full-scale mock structures for hands-on learning in welding and rigging. The sustainable building, featuring passive ventilation and solar power, supports the training of approximately 80 ironworkers annually. The result is a dynamic environment that acts as a beacon for the trade, inspiring pride and positioning the union for a future defined by skill and enduring relevance.
