Global Technology Company boosts workplace design with Gensler in a 220,000-square-meter Suzhou campus

The global technology company, a confidential client, faced the challenge of designing its Suzhou campus to harmonize its commanding global industry ethos with the quiet local culture of Suzhou, a city known for its rich heritage. Their goal was to create a diverse and inclusive workplace to help attract top talent worldwide. They engaged the architecture and design firm Gensler for this interior design project.

Gensler's solution drew inspiration from Suzhou's Classical Gardens, creating a permeable façade with local architectural details and an interior "stacking garden" that connects diverse spaces. The resulting 220,000-square-meter campus achieved LEED Gold certification and won a 2024 AIA Honor Award for Interior Architecture. The design successfully helped the global technology company attract new talent by focusing on employee well-being through sustainable materials, comfortable outdoor workspaces, and thoughtfully integrated cultural elements.
