Georgetown Day School unites its campus in one LEED Gold-certified building with Gensler

Georgetown Day School, a historic and progressive educational institution in Washington, D.C., faced the challenge of operating with its lower and middle schools spread across multiple disconnected locations. To prepare for its next chapter and unite its academic campus, the school engaged the architecture and design firm Gensler for a new building project.

Gensler designed and built a new, consolidated LEED Gold-Certified campus across from the existing high school. The solution architecturally differentiated the lower and middle schools while uniting them with central common spaces to create shared, flexible learning environments. This created a spacious, light-filled atmosphere within a complex urban site, resulting in a united and efficient campus design that prioritizes student engagement and success.
