A Gensler Case Study
Gensler's Bogotá team, a 70-person architecture and design group, faced the challenge of creating a workplace that would resonate locally in a rapidly growing sector while also functioning globally. They needed a space that moved beyond a generic co-working environment to reflect their unique Colombian identity and anchor their company culture, as talent in the city expected more than just a desk. Gensler addressed this challenge through its interior design service.
The solution implemented by Gensler was an office design concept called "2,600 Meters Closer to the Stars," which used local materials like wood, stone, and brick and took visitors on a journey through Colombia's diverse regions. Gensler integrated a traditional welcome ritual and local street-culture phrases to infuse the space with authenticity. The impact was that the office became a cultural anchor for the team, with employees reporting a stronger sense of ownership and belonging. The environment successfully tells Colombia's story to visitors while also supporting well-being through integrated biophilic design.
