Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston revitalizes a 200,000-square-foot campus with Gensler

The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston faced the challenge of revitalizing its aging 50-year-old campus. To address this, the center engaged the architecture and design firm Gensler to create a new master plan for renovations and expansion, aiming to update the facility and improve the visitor experience.

Gensler's solution involved reimagining the recreational campus, which included adding two new outdoor pools with amenities, a new fitness center with locker rooms, a dining space, and updating other areas like the indoor pool and multi-purpose rooms. Security, connectivity, and accessibility were key drivers in the design. As a result of Gensler's work, the project generated significant interest in the JCC, establishing it as an important and modernized community destination.
