A Gensler Case Study
Edelman, a global communications firm, faced a challenge with its New York City headquarters, which no longer reflected its creative culture or ambition. The former warehouse felt disconnected from the city and was ill-suited for its fast-paced production workforce. Edelman enlisted the architecture and design firm Gensler to create a new workplace that was authentically New York and could support a phased transformation.
Gensler's solution was an "Authentically NY" design concept that drew from SoHo's industrial character and the city's energy, expressed through materials like glass block and raw metal. The vendor reworked the building's layout to improve connectivity, added a dedicated editing floor, and activated the rooftop as a workspace. The resulting environment reinvigorated Edelman's teams with energy and pride, set a new global benchmark for the firm, and successfully draws staff back to the office without mandates.
