A Gensler Case Study
Eagle County Regional Airport faced significant crowding in its existing concourse, especially during peak winter tourism seasons, and needed to resolve hold room sizing issues to accommodate current and future passenger traffic. The airport engaged the architecture and design firm Gensler to address this challenge and improve the overall passenger experience.
Gensler's solution involved the demolition and replacement of the old concourse with a new structure featuring six gates, appropriately sized hold rooms, and support spaces. The design reflects the regional aesthetic, taking inspiration from rural barns, and enhances operational function. The project earned recognition including the Prix Versailles 2020 for airport interiors. Gensler delivered a facility that better serves passengers through peak seasons while framing scenic views of the airfield and mountains.
