A Gensler Case Study
Delta, a major airline, faced the challenge of modernizing its operations at LaGuardia Airport within a dense urban environment. The airline needed to consolidate two outdated terminals into a single, world-class facility that could improve passenger flow, integrate advanced technology, and meet high sustainability goals, all while maintaining operations at one of the nation's busiest airports. They engaged the architecture and design firm Gensler to address these complex aviation infrastructure demands.
Gensler designed and delivered a new 1.1 million-square-foot Terminal C, which created a hospitality-like experience with high-end finishes, local concessions, and improved passenger flow. The solution incorporated significant sustainable features and advanced technology systems. The project was completed 18 months ahead of schedule, achieving LEED Gold certification and transforming the passenger experience. The terminal's success helped change LaGuardia's reputation from one of the worst to one of the best airports in America, as cited by Forbes Travel.
