The customer, CIBC, along with partners Ivanhoé Cambridge and Hines, sought to position CIBC SQUARE as Toronto's premier experience-led office building. Their challenge was to move beyond a traditional commercial lobby and create a tenant amenity that would actively foster community and connection. They partnered with the vendor Gensler, leveraging their interior design expertise for this lobby transformation project.

Gensler designed and implemented The Canopy, a hospitality-focused tenant lobby conceived as a 'third space' blending lifestyle and workplace. The solution featured purposeful seating zones to encourage conversation and collaboration, aiming to visually connect to the cityscape and activate the area. The result, as delivered by Gensler, is a constantly used central hub that fosters a strong sense of community among all building tenants.
