Bar Bambi, a neighborhood bar in Chicago's West Town area, faced the challenge of evolving into an experiential destination that balanced novelty with local familiarity. The customer needed a design that reflected an avant-garde identity within an existing industrial space and could fluidly shift from a relaxed evening ambiance to a high-energy late-night atmosphere. The vendor, Gensler, was engaged to provide a design solution for this hospitality project.

Gensler created an immersive interior anchored by a signature color-shifting light installation. The solution used reflective surfaces, a bold color palette, and flexible lounge-style seating to create an atmosphere that evolves throughout the night. As a result, Bar Bambi became a vibrant social anchor in its neighborhood, encouraging repeat visits and fostering a strong sense of place. The design by Gensler was recognized by Condé Nast Traveler for its success in creating a standout destination that reflects West Town's creative culture.
