Controlled Test Data for Payment Processing Applications

US Debit and Credit Card Services Provider struggled to test its proprietary payment-processing applications because QA teams had to copy and manually sanitize production transaction feeds, a process that required 160 man-hours per test set, could not guarantee referential integrity or edge-case coverage, and could not scale to the 20 million rows needed for realistic load testing. The customer engaged GenRocket and evaluated its TDG (test data generation) platform to produce controlled, PII-free synthetic data that matched the company’s complex data interchange format and workflow requirements.

GenRocket delivered a custom TDG solution—custom generators, receivers, a FeatureFile workflow and a Groovy/API orchestration script (built with partner Cognizant)—that produces on-demand synthetic payment transaction files with full referential integrity and no PII. The GenRocket implementation can generate 1M rows in under 30 minutes and 20M rows in under eight hours, enabled scalable load and functional testing, and reduced manual provisioning effort by about 320 man-hours per year while integrating with the customer’s test automation tools.
