Ryder Cup drives loyalty with Game Zone

Ryder Cup Europe worked with Genius Sports to create a digital gamified fan experience for golf’s most prestigious tournament. Their challenge was to keep audiences engaged between the biannual Ryder Cup events, build a first-party data strategy for the tournament, attract younger fans including Gen Z, and improve the in-venue experience for more than 270,000 attendees.

Genius Sports delivered the Ryder Cup Game Zone, an all-in-one experience built on the tournament’s owned digital properties with Pick’em, Fantasy, and Predictor games, plus registration, mini-leagues, leaderboards, and social sharing. The result was record-breaking engagement and a successful first-party data strategy, with 67% of users playing all three days, 42% under 35, and 65% saying the Game Zone enhanced their Ryder Cup experience; Ryder Cup plans to use it again in 2025.
