BT Sport worked with Genius Sports to enhance its English Premier League coverage as fans increasingly demanded more control, richer insight, and more immersive viewing experiences. The broadcaster wanted a solution that was engaging, editorially relevant, and ready for the rollout of 5G, leading to the launch of its Matchday Experience tool.

Genius Sports, through its Second Spectrum tracking business, helped power the Matchday Experience across 40+ BT Sport EPL broadcasts by adding tracking-based insights such as player speeds and shot velocity, plus bespoke graphics, live animations, and data-driven visualizations. The result was a more personalized and immersive viewing system hosted in the BT Sport App, with features like Manager Mode and Hype Mode becoming a central part of how UK football fans watch the league.
