Vestiaire Collective is a fashion ecommerce marketplace where community members buy and sell pre-owned clothing and accessories. As it expanded from France into the UK (and planned the US), the company faced the challenge of translating thousands of new product descriptions added weekly so the site could launch with fully localized content—quickly, affordably, and at scale.
Vestiaire integrated the Gengo API (2–4 weeks of development) to provide free French-to-English translations for sellers, leveraging Gengo’s low prices and scalable crowdsourced model. The solution handled roughly 500 translation jobs per day (peaking above 1,000), enabled a successful UK launch with rapid traffic growth, increased cross-border transactions, and generated positive seller feedback.
