A GeneXus Case Study
VUCE, Uruguay’s Single Window for Foreign Trade, operates a platform used by 54,000 users and connected to 91% of national agencies to process 400,000 procedures per year. Before automation, VUCE’s release cycles relied on heavy manual testing (about 120 hours pre-release and 40 hours stabilization), causing poor user experience, paused development, and long delivery times. To address this, VUCE partnered with GeneXus and adopted GXtest v4 (with GXtest Recorder and GeneXus 16) to automate testing and modernize their processes.
GeneXus helped VUCE automate 82 UI flows using GXtest v4 and the GXtest Recorder, implement a separate KB strategy, and shift to an agile/DevOps methodology. The results included an 86% reduction in testing hours (manual 160h → automated 20h), a five-fold faster release cadence, production bugs per release falling from 8 to 1, average delivery times dropping (75 → 20 days), procedure start times shortening from 50s to <10s, and a measurable ROI from the fourth version onward. GeneXus’ solution also enabled repeatable overnight test runs across browsers and prevented most bugs from reaching end users.
