A GeneXus Case Study
Bantotal is a mission‑critical banking platform created by De Larrobla & Asociados and built with the GeneXus low‑code platform. Faced with the need to unify customer-facing operations and accounting across rapidly growing transaction volumes, frequent regulatory changes and multi‑country deployments, Bantotal required a scalable, fast way to adapt its core systems from the 1990s through crises such as Argentina 2002 and the COVID‑19 pandemic.
Using GeneXus, Bantotal implemented a unified relational data model, modular multi‑platform Java/web architecture, APIs and the GeneXus BPM suite for microfinance, enabling rapid development and integration. The GeneXus-based solution delivered measurable impact: more than 20 million loan contracts were rescheduled during the pandemic, a major 2019 core replacement at BROU involved 3 deployments, 600 interfaces and 23 test environments, and today Bantotal runs in 65 banks across 14 countries (70% of Uruguay’s banks), processing about 1,140,000 transactions and 3,400,000 queries daily through its main digital channel.
