A GeneXus Case Study
JALPAK Hawaii, part of JALPAK Corporation, needed to modernize its long-running core travel system while preserving business continuity and data consistency. The company’s IBM i-based “Success” platform had grown difficult to maintain as needs shifted from RPG/COBOL on green-screen interfaces to client/server and later web environments, all with a small internal team.
GeneXus helped JALPAK Hawaii rebuild Success into “Success II” and then convert it to a web platform, using C# for the client/server phase and Java on IBM i WebSphere for the web migration. With GeneXus, the team reduced development time dramatically, cut screens from 1,037 to 648, reports from 364 to 26, and tables from 309 to 190, and completed the web reconstruction in just 8 months with a six-person systems team. The result was improved performance, about 10x faster batch processing, and a more sustainable system that could adapt quickly to business changes.
