Dole Food Company Inc., the world’s largest producer and distributor of fresh produce and flowers, needed to strengthen food-safety operations and comply with FDA and EFSA traceability requirements. To meet this challenge, Dole used the GeneXus development platform to build a 24/7 traceability solution accessible from all Dole locations in Latin America, enabling rapid response to customer and regulatory queries.

Using GeneXus, Dole implemented a centralized, web-based traceability system (generated on .NET, running on DB2/400 and Windows 2003) that captures farm, packing plant, transport and technical product details and supplies dispatch information to logistics before goods reach the port. The GeneXus-based solution delivers excellent performance, is available 24 hours across the region, significantly improved food-safety operations and regulatory compliance, and allows Dole to respond almost immediately to customer and market inquiries.
