Blumenau City Council uses GeneXus to develop an application for monitoring COVID-19

Blumenau City Council needed a fast, reliable way to monitor the health status and geographic location of COVID-19 positive and suspected cases and to improve access to health services through its Health Department’s Pronto Mobile app. Using GeneXus’ low-code technology (implemented by regional partner i4 Intelligence for Innovation), the city sought an agile solution that focused on the public-health problem rather than heavy programming.

GeneXus enabled i4 to deliver the monitoring functionality in just two days: an interactive map, two-hour push-notification symptom checks, GPS location validation (15 m), and an escalation workflow to phone outreach and authorities if needed. Since launch about a month ago, the GeneXus-built tool has monitored roughly 8,000 people with about 700 active cases, giving monitoring teams real-time data for decision making and improving residents’ access to care.
