Blumenau City Council automates services with GeneXus technology

Blumenau City Council, the municipal public agency of the state of Santa Catarina, faced the challenge of digitizing and automating citizen services — from permit applications and e‑Sic requests to childcare bookings — to improve employee productivity and taxpayer agility. To meet this need the council adopted GeneXus technology, specifically the GeneXus BPM Suite (project developed with regional partner i4 Intelligence for Innovation), aiming to have all processes automated within two years.

GeneXus implemented a workflow automation solution (GeneXus BPM Suite) that put requests into a public-agency workflow, eliminating unnecessary steps, reducing errors and document loss, and enabling remote access during the pandemic. The automation has increased staff efficiency by reallocating employees to strategic tasks, cut internal and citizen-related costs, and so far benefited about 15,000 employees and citizens, with plans to extend the solution to serve more than 300,000 people.
