Preview of the Watertown Police Department Case Study

Watertown Police Department - Customer Case Study

Watertown Police Department moved into a new 34,500 sq. ft. public safety building and faced the challenge of securing a facility that houses detention cells, evidence rooms, dispatch and public spaces—requiring a highly robust, legally compliant and easily managed IP-based security solution. The department selected Genetec and its Security Center platform (installed by integrator SIGNET) to meet the need for a unified video surveillance and access control system.

Genetec’s Security Center (Omnicast video and Synergis access control) was deployed to tie together 42 cameras and 72 access-controlled points, provide 24/7 monitoring, two-way audio and noise-threshold alarms in cells, a 2 TB archive (30+ day retention for most feeds, indefinite disc archiving for prisoner/interview rooms), and advanced features like radio-triggered gate entry, door interlocks and emergency hot buttons. The integrated Genetec solution delivered faster, more reliable operations, consolidated multiple functions into one GUI, improved audit trails and incident response, and earned strong user feedback for ease of use and future-proofing.
