Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), a large multi‑campus university in Brussels serving nearly 24,000 students, needed to strengthen campus safety by replacing an inflexible analog setup with an IP-based video surveillance and access control system that could integrate existing equipment and support emergency phones and remote door management. To meet these requirements the university — working with Damovo — selected Genetec’s Security Center platform, notably the Omnicast video surveillance solution.

Genetec’s Omnicast was deployed across ULB with an initial four‑camera pilot that expanded to 120 cameras (80 on the Solbosch campus), four distributed servers and 14 client stations, plus Synergis access control, intercom integration and HID‑over‑IP controls. The Genetec solution provided 24/7 synchronized monitoring, reduced bandwidth use with multicast, automatic directory failover, easier user‑profile management and faster incident review, improving cooperation with authorities and noticeably increasing campus security and confidence.
