A Genetec Case Study
The Orlando Sanford International Airport, one of Central Florida’s busiest airports handling nearly two million passengers a year, faced serious limitations with a legacy VCR-based analog CCTV system that offered poor image quality, no reliable archiving, and slow incident response. Seeking an integrative, scalable, non-proprietary solution with PTZ control, fast access to live and archived video, and easy export for authorities, The Orlando Sanford International Airport selected Genetec’s Omnicast IP video management system.
Genetec implemented Omnicast across a new IP video network (using existing fiber) and transitioned 150 existing cameras while adding 80 more (230 total), enabling drag-and-drop viewing, bookmarking, robust archiving, failover redundancy and remote access across the airport. The Omnicast deployment improved decision-making and response times, allowed officials to verify incidents quickly (avoiding unnecessary evacuations/rescreens on multiple occasions), supported 24/7 remote monitoring, produced higher-quality evidence exports, delivered cost savings, and earned strong praise for Genetec’s support.
