The NEC Look to Unified Security for Major Technology Upgrade Across Business and CCTV Systems

The National Exhibition Centre (NEC), the UK’s largest exhibition venue, faced an aging 170-camera analogue system and obsolete traffic-management technology that limited image quality, coverage and integration with access control. To rebuild its infrastructure under Project Mercury the NEC selected Genetec (with integrator Vindex Systems) to deliver an IP-based, open-architecture solution using Genetec Security Center with Omnicast video and AutoVu ANPR.

Vindex Systems implemented the Genetec Security Center/Omnicast platform and AutoVu across a new network, doubling surveillance coverage to over 350 cameras, deploying 42 ANPR lanes and roughly 120 TB of video storage with multistreaming, plus mobile ANPR and VIP parking integration. Genetec’s unified platform improved image quality and investigation efficiency, enabled sharing reads with West Midlands Police, contributed to arrests and prosecutions, and even generated exhibitor revenue through leased video services.
