A Genetec Case Study
Sherwood Valley Casino, a Native American casino in Mendocino County with a 9,000 sq ft gaming floor and 220 machines, was constrained by an aging VCR‑based analog surveillance system that slowed investigations, archive retrieval and compliance with gaming commission standards—especially with plans to expand. Seeking a modern, scalable platform, the casino evaluated options and selected Genetec’s Omnicast IP‑based virtual matrix to replace its tape‑dependent workflow.
Genetec implemented Omnicast, integrating 170 existing analog Pelco cameras, adding 25 IP cameras and running the solution on three servers (including one failover). Omnicast’s motion‑triggered dynamic quality, alarm notifications and remote access eliminated VCR tape handling, reduced bandwidth, sped archive retrieval and enabled remote jackpot approvals. The deployment produced faster incident response, validated complaints, helped identify blacklisted patrons and prevented fraud, and provided a scalable platform that can support tripling the camera count for the new facility.
