Case Study: City of Sanford achieves unified, flexible security for its new Public Safety Complex with Genetec Security Center

A Genetec Case Study

Preview of the City of Sanford Case Study

Sanford expands city-wide installation of Genetec solution to manage and protect newly-built Public Safety Complex

The City of Sanford, Florida, needed a robust, highly secure system for its new 75,000 sq. ft. Public Safety Complex that houses both fire and police departments. Sanford required a solution that could federate multiple facilities, handle a large increase in camera and access-control load, enforce strict, fine‑grained permissions for sensitive areas and evidence handling, and integrate third‑party security hardware — challenges addressed in partnership with Genetec using its Security Center platform (including Omnicast™ and Synergis™).

Genetec deployed Security Center on two IBM blade servers with an 18 TB SAN, expanding the city’s federation to support 83 cameras and 78 access-controlled points — a 300% increase in camera load — with 30‑day video retention. The Genetec solution delivered sandboxed access for interview/evidence rooms, automated alarm-to-camera workflows with third‑party devices, simplified PoE camera installation, remote IT maintenance, and easy scalability, improving operational efficiency and meeting accreditation and emergency‑operations requirements.
