Protecting steel manufacturing sites with Genetec Omnicast video surveillance

ASO Siderurgica Group, an Italian steel producer with three major manufacturing sites, was struggling with increasing break‑ins and raw‑material thefts and limited visibility from an aging DVR‑based analog system. To enable continuous, scalable monitoring and faster incident investigations, ASO Siderurgica Group chose Genetec and upgraded to Genetec Omnicast IP video surveillance.

Genetec deployed Omnicast v4.8 across the sites (44 cameras in Ospitaletto, 15 in Castegnato, 28 in Raldon), using federation for centralized control, Axis network and thermal cameras, Agent Vi analytics, and NVR/NAS storage with 10TB archives. The Genetec solution delivers instant alarm notifications, quicker video retrieval and improved operator response, producing immediate detections of unauthorized people and vehicles, reducing thefts and enhancing worker safety while enabling future system expansion.
