A Genetec Case Study
The University of Georgia (UGA), a multi‑campus public university with over 36,000 students, faced a failing proprietary access control system and needed a flexible, scalable solution that could integrate access, video and ALPR across six campuses. After evaluating options, UGA selected Genetec’s Security Center unified security platform (including Omnicast, Synergis and AutoVu) to meet its requirements for granular scheduling, device interoperability and campus‑wide control.
Genetec implemented Security Center with partners Convergent Technologies and Preferred Technologies (with support from Genetec Professional Services), using Synergis Cloud Link to retain existing readers and Plan Manager, Threat Levels and a custom Schedule Management Plugin for workflows. The deployment has converted 10 buildings on the main campus and 8 at Griffin, currently monitoring about 250 doors and 100 cameras, and positions UGA to reach targets of 1,000+ cameras, 1,600 door readers and 400 users—improving response times, automating HR card deactivations and simplifying daily administration.
