New Jersey School District implements Genetec’s state-of-the-art Security Center

Mahwah Township Public Schools, a New Jersey district serving 3,450 students across seven locations, needed a unified, scalable, web‑based IP security solution to replace a fragmented CCTV setup and costly parallel infrastructure. Charged with campus‑wide monitoring on a tight budget, IT Manager Carlos Rosa sought a platform that would protect prior investments, improve situational awareness, and allow phased growth; he selected Genetec’s Security Center (Omnicast and Synergis) with support from integrator Let’s Think Wireless.

Genetec implemented Security Center with Omnicast video and Synergis access control, converting existing analog cameras via IP encoders, adding Axis IP cameras, and repurposing third‑party door hardware to protect six high‑school and four middle‑school access points. The web‑based system centralized monitoring across all sites, eliminated previous downtime issues, enabled remote service, and expanded retention plans from about 3–4 days to a planned 30 days with increased storage (1–2 TB to ~11–12 TB), delivering measurable improvements in reliability, coverage and operational efficiency.
