A Genetec Case Study
Millard Public Schools, a large K‑12 district in Omaha, Nebraska (35 schools plus three administrative buildings, over 3,000 employees), faced outdated keyed locks, limited access readers, poor video quality and storage, and difficulty revoking ex-employee access after a community school shooting increased security concerns. After a bond-funded program and a pilot led by Prime Communications, the district chose Genetec’s Security Center unified platform (including Omnicast, Synergis and Plan Manager) to modernize and centralize its security systems.
Genetec deployed Security Center across all 38 buildings, integrating Omnicast video (managing over 640 Axis cameras), Synergis access control (supporting 230+ HID readers and 800+ door contacts with 49 Synergis Cloud Link appliances), intercom and intrusion systems, plus Active Directory integration and local archiving on BCDVideo servers. The result: automated door schedules, alarms that surface live video for quick response, automatic removal of terminated employees’ credentials, more independent staff monitoring and faster video retrieval — delivering measurable improvements in district-wide access control, incident response and overall school safety.
